If The Emergency Foodshelf Network were a human body, our volunteers would be the blood vessels, providing the much-needed oxygen to all necessary systems.
There are many opportunities help experience the fight against hunger at The Emergency Foodshelf Network. Whether your looking for a project for a group or something individual, we can help find a project to fit your needs. Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities:
Food Sorting: (ages 10 and older, individuals and groups)

Removing damaged, perishable, and non food items from donated food.

Sorting food into smaller, more user friendly boxes that will be delivered to low income senior citizens.
Office Support: (ages 16 & older)

Answering phones and greeting visitors

Making photo copies

Folding letters and stuffing envelopes

Assembling information packets
-
Please be able to make a three hour commitment
Assembling food packages for distribution through partner foodshelves: (ages 15 and older, ideal for a group project)

Family Packages - non perishable staples such as peanut butter, jelly, pasta, canned vegetables.

Somali Packages - culturally specific food for low income Somali residents of Hennepin County.

Fare for All Packages - one Thursday a month (call for more information)
Outreach and community awareness:
Engage Rainbow customers about EFN Give Food Give Hope program during in-store promotions
Inform organizations about EFN Food and Cash Drives with your interpersonal and public speaking skills.
Maintenance/grounds keeping: (ages 18 and older)

Mowing lawns

Trimming landscape

Removal of snow
Warehouse support: (ages 18 and older)

Cleaning

Inventory help: organizing, restocking and calculating

Picking orders to be distributed to local agencies

Equipment Maintenance
