Over 600,000 lbs. of food was donated to The Emergency Foodshelf Network (EFN) through community Food and Cash Drives in 2006. That's over a half million meals--based on USDA's average of 1.33 lbs. per meal--provided to individuals and families visiting foodshelves. Community Food and Cash Drives are essential to stretching small budgets of individual foodshelves, especially when partering with Minnesota's Free Food Bank.
All food collected during a Food and Cash Drive is available to EFN foodshelves for FREE. We pride ourselves in not charging our members membership, handling or delivery fees to be a part of our network. Cash collected during a Food and Cash Drive helps EFN purchase culturally specific and high demand foods. For every $1 donated, EFN can purchase $4 worth of food. Emergency Foodshelf Network (EFN) has over 150 corporate organizations, schools, communities of faith and civic groups hosting Food and Cash Drives thoughout the year.
