Nonperishable foods are “shelf-stable” items that do not spoil or decay. They can withstand months (even years) of shelf life, which is why they are sometimes referred to as “shelf-stable” foods. They’re the items found on the shelves of most home pantries… and these items are a vital staple for foodshelves when serving hungry individuals and families. As part of our mission at EFN, it is important for us to always be collecting nutritious foods from community food and cash drives for the hunger relief programs in our network, so hungry individuals can receive the knowledge and nutrition for proper health.
Foods high in fat, oils and sugar make up a high percentage of many diets, especially of those less fortunate, because they are inexpensive and easy to obtain.
Please donate kindly from the suggested food pyramid categories and nonperishable suggestions below to help us provide a well-balanced, nutritious set of foods to those who do not have enough to eat.
